Open Source...OS atmosphere

 

And soudainly I am chilling something like a free and light ambiance...

There is an Open Source Atmosphere here, something where you can change something rights. Something you are not obliged with a free use, to modify, to re-use.

This is June and there is an OS atmosphere...Why???

Maybe it is about the 3 weeks where I am swimming in this independant and light wave.

To be more serious... our countries in South Eastern Europe are thinking more strongly for an alternative solution to push economic applications to manage our territories.

First event...it is in Hungary sponsored by the HUNAGI Association for the Geo-Information : http://hunagi8.blogspot.com/

And when we discover the mission of this association (on the website), it is clear : Better solutions for less cost!

So they have organized a sympathic workshop with title: 

Workshop for Building Network Related to the South Eastern European Spatial Data Infrastructure 

After the different presentations of the first day, we can understand that the situation has changed a lot after few years. All use the open source solutions in a different level. It is a fact that each countries use the FLOSS tools in a more or less intensity but they know them and they try to use them.

I come back in Thessaloniki, and another event takes place in this city. It is the Second WordCamp Grece : http://2011.wordcamp.gr/

10 presentations are presenting during the Saturday from 12.35 to 16.35 about the very good OS  CMS Wordpress. We are more far about the GIS applications, but it is important to host a Geoportal with a Open Source CMS...

What do you think about this. And WP is supported by a strong and mature  community now.

To finish this overview about my ''Open Source 3 weeks of June'', I come back in geomatics to present the next event in Greece. It is about the meeting of the OSGeo Greek Chapter. It will be a meeting in Thessaly.

Like a OS Geo supporter, it is impossible to be not at this event. So, it is my next rendez-vous. Normally I will present a FLOSS but I will discuss about this for the next days.

I am just preparing the tutorial...
